Green & Gold Aides perform a myriad of duties depending on their location and the needs of their Member office.

Many of our Green & Gold Aides work in district offices around the country serving as Caseworkers, Field Representative or a mixture of both.

Caseworker: 

Working closely with the District Director, Constituent Service Representatives, and Field Representatives, the Caseworker acts as a liaison to federal government entities and agencies on behalf of the Member’s constituents. The Caseworker is responsible for assessing casework for problems requiring legislative action and/or Congressional oversight

For example, a Caseworker may serve as an advocate for constituents having issues with the federal government. They might help a family member acquire a military medal for a loved one or help an individual receive updates on their VA disability claim.

Field Representative:

Field Representatives play a critical forward-facing role in the Member’s district office. Their responsibility includes serving as the Member’s community representative for issues and programs within their assigned portfolio. This includes monitoring and updating the Member and District Director on important local issues, emerging trends, and critical developments. Field Representatives also serve as a liaison to the federal, state, and local governments, as well as different agencies on behalf of the Member. They work with Constituent Service Directors and the broader field team to ensure effective communication with agencies and constituents. Ensures outreach efforts align with the District Director’s and Member’s strategic vision and goals.

The Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program was established to provide our military community with employment opportunities working for Congress.

The U.S. House of Representatives provides robust professional development opportunities for all House staff through departments such as the Congressional Staff Academy. As such, Green & Gold Aides should expect to enhance their skill sets along with learning new ones while in the program.
